Dorian: So, how is life being in a band for you these days?

Littl’ans: Difficult with the odd moment of extreme enthusiasm.

Dorian: I hear you… When listening to your songs I can’t help feeling you are more poets than anything else. Young men singing poetry to stripped down nonchalant tunes. Do you agree?

Littl’ans: Yeah that’s it for us. Poetry’s a good way of getting something that’s worth saying and also seeing a whole story or tale unfold ...then you simplify it for the song, as poetry can be too wordy and has to be compensated for sound. It sounds technical but it’s not meant to be. (Though it’s not always poetical or poetry… it’s just one way that tells well from a situation you’ve been through)

Dorian: I see… What influence your sound then?

Littl’ans: Our influences are too erratic and would only confuse people about our sound. We tend to play song’s the postman can whistle, but it’s up for change ...it could all turn into a terrible din at any time.

Dorian: Your recordings sounds like you put one microphone in someones front room and just sang your hearts out.

Littl’ans: Yeah that’s exactly how we did it.

Dorian: What is your drive, your desperation for being in a band? Except the obvious bohemian lifestyle…

Littl’ans: I’m not sure anymore… It used to be that you may -or may not- was able to get people out of their homes, down the street, put in front of you and hoped they’d move around to the sound and sang or shouted your songs back to you. It’s quite rare if you can get that for a large number of people, but if you can you’d want to keep on doing it... I suppose it’s still that, as long as you identify with the attitude to some of the people you sing to then it’s worth it, there’s not much worse than being heard and misunderstood.

Dorian: Do you do this for love? For a lover? (Skjønner du ingenting du da? Lytt til ‘When You Go’)

Littl’ans: Everytime.

Dorian: Nice… Any thoughts on why young men have a need to form gangs and calling them bands? Where does the romance lie for you? (When do romance lie to you?)

Littl’ans: Yeah but not without sounding boring. It’s all for a good eve so the next day puts a kick in your stride.

Dorian: Could one get away with labeling you a new kind of dandies?

Littl’ans: No, (new kind or not) we have no associations with or aspirations to be dandies. We’re well, hard, fightin’ most nights, vulgar whenever possible and badly dressed.

Dorian: Bands you would like to mention, bands you think should get more attention?

Littl’ans: Liars, Selfish cunt, Beast Ella Beast, the Horrors, Brian Jones Town Massacre, Littl’ans.

Dorian: Modesty is a dying virtue I guess. Any advice for bands trying to break into the scene?

Littl’ans: You’re asking someone with a bad track record. But, at least one member of your group should be able to play an instrument, don’t sign personal manager contracts until a deal is on the table ...thou be fair with your word of honour. Don’t get carried away with your producer’s ideas, if you don’t like the finished album then you’re bound to never like it. Minimize the amount of girls you have in your group, none is better, but if you must have one, then be on your guard. Saying something in your lyrics is best and will get you a bigger audience; thou not essential if you look good and you only have aspirations to be a scenester. And most important, make sure you know as best as possible, who your band mates are and what their motives or raison-detre is ...they could turn out to be complete cunts. (Most people are cunts it’s just you don’t want complete cunts, there is a difference).
Note: Us littl’ans would like to apologize for said bad language, cause it’s not like us and we do have a lot of non-vulgar things to say, thou in this case we have to use words that don’t confuse.

(Hmm…

Dorian: No offence taken Littl’ans. Any chance of see you in Norway soon?

Litll’ans: Yes we’d love to come and if you can sort it out then more the better.

Dorian: Maybe we’ll just have to do so then…

Da er det vel bare en ting å gjøre da. Få Litll’ans over!
